Since 1968, we have provided Quality Used Equipment Sales & Rentals, as well as buckets & attachments. Located in upstate New York (just south of Syracuse), we maintain a large inventory of all types of construction equipment.  

We own what we sell and staff our shop for maintenance and repairs, including a full service paint facility.

In 1968 Beck Construction was founded by Roger Beck. The company was primarily an excavation and grading contractor. Now, more than 40 years later, our company (now known as Beck Equipment Inc.) takes pride in a commitment to provide good, used construction equipment. With years of industry experience under our belt, we focus on the value of quality used machinery to our customers.

The Beck Equipment story began soon after Roger Beck returned from a tour in Vietnam, where he served in the Navy's construction battalion. Roger holds an engineering degree from Cornell University. He purchased three CAT D8 2U Series dozers and used them in pond construction and site work. As Beck Construction achieved many successes, the company expanded its inventory to include a fleet of scrapers and worked out of a building in McLean, NY.

Our current dedication to used construction equipment came soon after, when the company began to branch out into selling and renting used machinery. Beginning in the mid '70's and throughout the 80's, sales and rentals became an increasingly large part of our total sales. leading us to the decision to drop the contracting part of the business in the early '90's. With a primary focus on rentals, we provide our customers with an extensive variety of rental equipment - all available on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Our Company's 25,000 sq ft (2,323 sq m) facility in Preble, NY is home to twenty one employees and more than 200 machines and 400 buckets and attachments in an inventory which includes dozers, loaders, excavators, loader backhoes, compactors, graders, scrapers, screening plants and haul trucks.

We have excavators up to the 100,000 lb (45,359 kg) category and dozers up to the D9 size. We also have a fleet of service trucks that play an important role in quickly servicing the equipment we rent.

Our sales market is not limited to just the northeastern United States. As equipment transactions take place nationally and internationally it is not uncommon to sell packages of five or six pieces of equipment to a single buyer. One achievement we are very proud of is that we have managed to develop a strong reputation for reliably representing our equipment. Because we rebuild, repair and test the equipment we sell, we are able to offer a warranty on most of our equipment.

Repair Tips

If your hydraulic excavator has weak track drive power, especially when turning, it may not be as bad as you think. We’ve often found that the seals in the swivel joint are worn and allowing oil to bypass. This reduces pressure and volume to the track drive motors, causing low power and speed. The swivel joint is the assembly that conducts oil from the upper, swinging part of the machine, to the lower and the track drives. This repair has often cost us $500 to $1200 on 14,000 to 60,000 lb. machines. If you don’t know the machine’s history, be sure to check the relief valve pressure settings to be sure that someone hasn’t tried to cure the problem by setting the pressures too high.
