Why Windfield
Windfield is committed to quality, excellence and the continual improvement of its environmental performance and pollution prevention through the development of new asset recovery and recycling programs. It seeks to demonstrate its responsible corporate citizenship to both theenvironment and all of its customers.
Single Source Recycling Solution
Established in 1978, Windfield has always been at the forefront of recycling. Initially, its focus was the refining and recovery of precious metalsfrom electronic and manufacturing scrap. As its customer base grew, Windfield realized that their customers’ recycling needs included materials that it did not handle and that its own operations were generating similar recyclable materials.
In 1996, Windfield expanded its operations intonon-ferrous materials. Shortly afterwards, it added the Sierra T550 SL shear/baler/logger to its facilities, an equipment change that allowed it to process ferrous material as well. Its goal was to provide its customers with a single source solution to their recycling needs. By dealing with Windfield, customers are assured of receiving the highest return on their recyclable materials because Windfield owns the process and they are equally assured of the proper disposition of those materials.
Commitment to the Environment
Windfield has ISO 14001 certification for electronics recycling, which demonstrates its commitment to both the environment and its customers. All of its processes are compliant with EPA, state, and local mandates. Copies of licenses and permits are available upon request.
Timely Process
Most scrap, depending on the complexity of the material, can be prepared, processed and settlement made based on your needs.
Windfield recycles non-ferrous metals, which refers to scrap metal other than iron and steel. Examples of non-ferrous metal include aluminum, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, titanium, cobalt, and chromium. Non-ferrous scrap is recovered from a wide range of obsolete consumer, commercial, and industrial sources.
By establishing a niche with its chemical process and combining it with its non-ferrous recycling capabilities, Windfield has grown to be one of the largest non-ferrous recyclers in New England.
Windfield has a complete range scrap metal processing machinery on site including shears, balers, loggers, and sorting/separation equipment. The Sierra T550 SL is one such machine used in its non-ferrous metal operations.

If a material is one that cannot be melted, incinerated, or stripped, Windfield will separate it using a variety of acid digestion methods.
Shredding, Blending & Sampling
For low grade materials, Windfield offers a low-cost shredding process. The material is shredded and then passed through a state of the art, custom splitter that helps to homogenize the material.Iron is removed from the material. Aluminum is also separated.
