Organix Recycling, LLC
19065 Hickory Creek Drive, , Suite 240, Mokena, Illinois, United States | Liquid Oils and Chemicals Recycling
Organix Recycling was established in 2009 for the explicit purpose of diverting food recyclables from landfills to more environmentally sustainable options. Since then, we have become the largest collector of supermarket food recyclables in the United States, servicing more than 34 states and Puerto Rico.
With decades of experience in recycling, the senior management of Organix has built a team that serves more than 6,000 supermarkets owned by many of our nation's most respected and recognized brands.
Organix has been successful and is growing because we are responding to a need for sustainable organic waste solutions. Adding an 'Organic Waste Recycling Program' is increasing zero waste efforts across much of the country and resulting in measurable financial, environmental and social value.
Food Recycling Programs
Organix makes recycling food waste simple. When you rely on Organix Recycling, you gain an environmentally responsible partner - capable of providing your business withsustainable programs that lower costs and divert food waste from landfills - and that's just the beginning.
Organix attempts to follow the EPA's hierarchy of recycling options and divert food recyclables to the highest recycling options available, while being mindful of travel costs and carbon footprint ramifications.
We enable supermarkets and other organizations to recycle fully de-packaged produce, dairy, salad bar and bakery items including acceptable fruits, vegetables, bakery, dairy and pasta. Each organization we partner with is provided with lockable receptacles for all acceptable food waste. We then work with our partners to develop a collection schedule structured to their needs, while minimizing operational disruptions and maxmizing diversion opportunities.
Add Value with a Food Recycling Program
- Financial Value - Recycling costs are often less than the cost to send food waste to landfills. In addition, using Organix receptacles for unused food products improves the general cleanliness of the exterior your building and minimizes compactor issues and costly repairs due to overfills.
- Environmental Value - Food recycling reduces your carbon footprint and is an efficient sustainability solution.
- Social Value - Participation supports your corporate and social responsibility initiatives, and demonstrates a commitment to protecting our communities and our environment. Implementing a food recycling program will help you stay on a path towards 'zero waste.'
Why Recycle Food
Reducing organic waste is becoming an increasingly widespread issue in our world. Every year Americans throw away nearly 36 million tons of food. Even more alarming is the fact that 40% of all the food produced in the US is never used, which ultimately means that Americans are wasting roughly $165 billion worth of food per year.
For those reasons, and more, the economic and environmental benefits of food waste recycling are becoming too great to ignore. Progressively more organizations that produce large volumes of organic waste are beginning to implement sustainability and food waste recycling programs. Food waste recycling creates opportunity to reduce disposal costs, and it is good for the environment and your local community. It decreases the amount of organic waste going to landfills, which in turn, lessens GHG emissions released in to the atmosphere.
Consider these statistics:
- Food waste generation in the U.S. alone has increased by 300% since 1980
- Less than 5% of unused food is recycled - leaving 95% in landfills
- Food is the largest component of all landfilled waste
- Food in landfills accounts for the largest human related source of methane, which is a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than carbon monoxide
- 25% of All Food Purchased is Never Eaten
- 40% of All Food Produced is Never Used
- 34 Million Tons of Food Recyclables are Sent to Landfills Each Year
Be at the Forefront of Food Waste Recycling
Laws are beginning to add food to the list of mandatory recyclables in an increasing number of states. Still, businesses that generate high quantities of food waste should begin to implement plans for food recycling before one is forced upon them.
Organix Recycling has been helping organizations convert food recyclables into renewable energy and organic animal feed since 2009. In fact, we are the largest collector of food recyclables in the U.S. Let us help you create a Food Product Recycling Program that will make you a leader in your community.
Substainability
Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony.
Sustainability is important to making sure that we have, and will continue to have, the water, materials and resources to protect human health and our environment.*
Food Recycling and Sustainability
The rate we are consuming our natural resources cannot be sustained without eventually using them up. Something simply has to change. The answer is food waste recycling. The role of recycling in preserving our environment and increasing sustainability efforts is incredibly important.
Our goal is to assist you in your sustainability efforts by helping you with your Food Product Recycling Program. Instead of simply sending your unused food product to a landfill, we will take your unused food products and properly recycle them into a high quality and useful end product.
