Eel River Disposal & Resource Recovery Inc.

965 Riverwalk Dr, Fortuna, California, United States | Waste recycling

Welcome!

Eel River Resource Recovery has been serving the Eel River Valley and other parts of Humboldt County since 1987. We provide outstanding residential, commercial, and industrial services, and support our communities by our presence, participation, and assistance to local charities, educational organizations and professional and business organizations.

What We Do

Eel River Resource Recovery is the Eel River Valley's largest full-service resource recovery and waste collection company. It is locally owned and operated, and provides waste and recycling collection services to commercial, residential, and industrial customers in Arcata, Carlotta, Ferndale, Fortuna, Hydesville, Loleta, Myers Flat, Rio Dell, Scotia, Shelter Cove, Stafford, Weott, and other parts of southern Humboldt County.

Eel River Resource Recovery's main facilities are located in Fortuna. A transfer station is located in the Redway area. Our dedicated employees (and there are over 70 of us), are ready to assist you at any time.

Single stream carts are emptied every two weeks, year round, but collection days vary. Pick-up dates are listed here for your convenience. We want all of your paper, junk mail, newspaper, catalogs, magazines, paper bags, cardboard, #1 - #7 plastic bottles and containers, plastic bags, glass jars and bottles, metal cans, aluminum foil, etc. Please remove lids and add them to the cart. We cannot accept Styrofoam.

Green Waste Pickup

Go ahead and fill up your green waste cart with the following materials… grass, leaves, weeds, brush, pine needles, branches, unpainted wood (no nails), untreated wood (no nails), etc.

Load up your 68 gallon cart, but make sure the lid can close. Please do not overfill or pack your cart so tightly that material won’t fall out.

Please do not add trash to your cart. We have to say “no, thank you” to the following materials: dirt, rocks, paper, plastic, Styrofoam, food, sheetrock, metal, painted wood, treated wood, or stained wood.

Sorry, but green waste carts cannot handle tree limbs or wood scraps over three feet long or more than one foot wide. If you are not sure of what can and cannot be recycled via the green waste program, please call us at 725-5156.

Thank you for keeping the green waste program growing. The materials we collect are transported to Scotia for use in their biomass power plant. Green waste reused in this fashion helps to create energy for Humboldt County.
