Clearford is a provider of unified water management and sanitation systems. Clearford has refined and proven its proprietary Clearford One™ technology over more than 25 years of in-the-field operating experience and data.

Clearford One™ is a better, more sustainable way, to build sanitation—it lasts longer than conventional systems, needs far less water to operate, and costs less to build, operate and maintain. It also enables efficient integration with systems for rainwater harvesting, water distribution and recycling, all of which Clearford is able to deploy for its customers.

The foundation of Clearford One™ is the technology’s proven ability to decentralize the treatment of solids in smart digesters connected by a specialized network of sealed, small bore, pipes.

Clearford is able to provide system deployment, financing and operation based on the needs and context of individual projects.

The Mother of Invention

The Clearford System was born out of a project initiated by the Ontario Government in the 1980′s. A cost effective solution that suited the geotechnical constraints in the Northern town of Field, Ontario, was needed. Clearford, then called Innovative Water & Sewer Systems, was founded to provide a sanitation system based on a reduced pipe size enabled by the segregation of solids at the source.

Since that time Clearford has refined and enhanced the technology, and has been granted several patents. Fifteen years of in-the-field operating data and research, a breakthrough advance with the ClearDigest™ Passive Mixer, and industry advances in treatment technology has led to the creation of the Clearford One™ offering.

Today Clearford has installed systems in a number of communities across North America and in South America, with several projects in development in other markets. With the benefits the technology offers to the developing world, the company is in discussion or negotiation for significant installations in India, Southeast Asia, and South America.

The system in Field, Ontario, continues to operate today as efficiently as it did in 1989 when it was installed.

The Clearford One™ sanitation system is the basis of the full Clearford Water Systems offering. Clearford One™ enables installation and integration of all other water systems including stormwater management, fire suppression, and water distribution and redistribution. With Clearford One™ it’s possible to establish a more sustainable, holistic water management system. Acting as a single-point provider for fully integrated water management solutions makes it possible for us to provide a unique set of services including system design, installation, financing and operation.
