CompuChem, a division of Liberty Analytical Corporation, offers a wide range of analytical services to support environmental engineers, private industry, and state and federal government agencies. Proficient in EPA and industry standard methods for analyzing organic and inorganic contaminants. Our company combines the talent and experience of its staff with the latest instrumentation to produce quality data.

This simple equation of excellence has seen the company provide, without failure, legally defensible data to its customers for almost three decades. The lab is located near the Research Triangle Park (RTP) in Cary, North Carolina, and is less than 10 miles from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Our laboratory facility has over 30,000 square feet of space divided proportionately between a number of laboratory and support areas.

Analytical Chemistry (Analytical Capabilities)

CompuChem has been the nation's leading provider of Contract Lab Program (CLP) services and CLP-like data since 1981. Headquartered in Cary, NC, we have an experienced staff, a broad range of analytical services, and an unfailing commitment to quality and method compliance. The company maintains a number of certifications and capabilities and is actively involved in both the Federal Services and Commercial environmental sectors.

The company has analyzed samples of every conceivable type of matrix, including, fish, crab, oyster, worm tissue/organs/oil, bird tissue/organs, concrete/wood chips, heavy oil, and ceiling tiles. Our environmental testing laboratory has analyzed hundreds of thousands of samples with sludge, sediment, soil, water, biota, and waste matrices.

We continue to operate one of the largest single-site environmental analytical instrumentation facilities in the country. The company is able to analyze large delivery groups of samples for a wide variety of parameters. This large, diverse analytical capacity at one site avoids the potential confusion and error that could be introduced by dividing large sample batches between facilities located at separate locations.

CompuChem consists of several separate environmental testing laboratory areas that prepare and analyze environmental samples for the presence of organic and inorganic contaminants. Written standard operating procedures (SOPs) that comply with published analytical methods are in place in each laboratory area at CompuChem.

QA Program

Our Quality Assurance (QA) program at CompuChem is one of the best in the industry; our QA procedures have held up under the scrutiny of some of the most stringent state, federal, and commercial approval programs in the country. Our QA department staff consists of senior technical personnel, all with undergraduate degrees, and each with more than nineteen years of practical laboratory experience.

CompuChem's QA staff currently consists of three individuals including the Vice President and General Manager (VP/GM), the Quality Assurance Manager, and the QA Administrative Specialist.

CompuChem's QA Department acts as the company's point of contact for both governmental and commercial client external audits that are scheduled, as required, throughout the year. These audits are mandated by our clients as part of their certification (governmental agency) or bidding (commercial) process. Additionally, the QA Department conducts its own random laboratory internal system audits.  Audits, whether external or in-house, apply specific audit methods and evaluate laboratory performance. These findings are reported to laboratory and senior management and recommendations are implemented to address audit findings.

Senior management assesses the effectiveness of the quality management controls and the adequacy of resources available to achieve and assure maximum data integrity to our clients. The QA department's auditing activities are considered in assessing the overall quality management systems. The QA auditing activities are summarized in a report to the VP/GM who reports to executive staff on a monthly basis. The VP/GM also assesses the integrated quality assurance program and its performance. The assessment focuses on how well the QA program is working and identifies management problems that hinder the organization in achieving its objective quality requirements. Follow-up by the VP/GM includes an evaluation of the effectiveness of management's corrective actions.
