Our Value

A bottleneck in life science research and chemical analysis is the time required for sample preparation. Sample preparation is a tedious process that often involves multiple steps, delaying the time to a result, decreasing productivity and increasing the probability for error.  Prosolia’s products eliminate this bottleneck by enabling direct, automated analysis of samples thereby reducing the requirement for extensive sample preparation and enabling high throughput sample analysis.  These capabilities translate into lower laboratory operational costs, streamlined workflows and generate results faster than traditional approaches.  Prosolia’s products enable scientists in the aforementioned markets to:

• know where drugs and their metabolites end up in the body.
• rapidly phenotype cancers and other diseases from tissue biopsies for research purposes.
• directly profile live microorganisms.
• Identify counterfeit medicines, contaminants in drug and TV manufacturing, IEDs and chemical agents in the field.

Brief History

Prosolia, Inc. was founded in 2003 to commercialize the inventions created out of Prof. R. Graham Cooks' laboratory at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. In 2004, Prosolia obtained an exclusive license from Purdue University for its DESI technology and commercialized a series of DESI-based product aiding researchers in various fields address the sample preparation bottleneck and improved their workflows.  In 2011, Prosolia obtained rights to develop and commercialize the liquid microjunction surface sampling technology invented at Oak Ridge National Laboratory by Dr. Gary Van Berkel and commercialized this key invention under the flowprobe brand.  Further, Prosolia holds key intellectual property invented by the late Nobel laureate, Prof. John B. Fenn, in addition to various patents of technology developed by our R&D efforts.
