Founded in 1850 by Alfred and Ernest Burgess, A.E.Burgess & Sons Ltd is still owned and run by the Burgess family to this day. We operate a fleet of 27 vehicles from our 12 acre site and deal with over 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum. As a leading waste management company and scrap metal merchant in Leicestershire we provide a professional approach for both the public and trade sector whilst maintaining a friendly and personal service.Today, more than ever, waste and waste management are critical issues for industry, construction, government and the public sector. The pressing need to look after the environment and to comply with environmental legislation will transform the industry to an even greater extent over the coming years. Burgess hopes to reach a point where the majority of waste materials produced are re-used, recycled or recovered for their energy content.In order to maximise the value of waste as a resource, we have re-engineered our waste collection, recycling and sorting services as a manufacturing process linked to the value chain of waste. This approach recognises that all waste is a raw material for the products or energy we produce and can be used as part of the manufacture of new products, helping to link the waste industry with the economic activities of the UK to create a circular economy.
