Established over ten years ago as a high-technology spin-out of Loughborough University, Micropore has grown to be an experienced expert in specialist particles and emulsion manufacturing working with a wide portfolio of exciting and demanding clients. Encapsulation

At Micropore we use our patented Membrane Emulsification Process to produce uniform microencapsulated particles from 10 µm upwards.

The Micropore intelligent emulsification technology results in huge benefits to industry:

Our patented processes have had tremendous success in the low fat food industry where a low fat internal phase is added to a fat phase.  The fat surrounds the low fat material and gives a creamy sensory taste with palate appeal yet all the benefits of low fat.

In nutraceuticals we are amongst the leaders in the field of encapsulation of such materials as omega-3 fish oils providing a mask for sharp tastes.

Complex coacervation is an area of expertise for us at Micropore and we have worked extensively in pharmaceuticals and food to achieve excellent results.

Specialist Particles

At Micropore we have developed a patented Particle Generation System with intelligence, innovation and reliability at its core.  We can produce particles between 20 and 500 µm, and higher if required.  The optimum particle size for your formulation is then uniformly dispersed.

We often say it: we are passionate about particles and this system is capable of making the same particles time and time again.  We have engineered our Particle Generation System to be capable of batch or continuous production to suit your needs.

Our system is available in 100% stainless steel as an enclosed or open system ensuring the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and cosmetics industries can benefit from our technology.

Our Micropore Particle Generation System allows us to produce a chosen particle size with a coefficient of variation (CV) of circa 11% - 15% on a scalable basis from 1 – 30Kg/day.  Our system is robust and reliable allowing us to either make particles with you and for you or for you to run the equipment at your own site.

The scalability of our System allows us to work with you to go from laboratory formulation testing into full production tonnages without reengineering the production process.  Time and cost are therefore minimised in this way.

Our System can make particles, resins and beads.  Both gel and macroporous particles can contain a tailored internal pore structure making them ideal for biopharma types of separations.
