Professional technicians, quality service and state-of-the art equipment enables us to effectively manage your green waste project.Often offering less expensive fees than area landfills, Thelin grinds waste asphalt shingles in the preparation of RAS (Recycled Asphalt Shingles) which will be used as an additive tohot mix asphalt road surfaces.In addition to the asphalt shingles, Thelin also accepts a variety of compostable materials. By mulching waste wood cleared from construction sites, Thelin is able to offer the finished product as mulch and landscaping materials.Thelin Recycling Co., L.L.C. identified asphalt shingles as a waste stream which could be recycled in early1996. President Michael Hill operated Hill Roofing Co., which specialized.in the haul off and disposal of roofing debris. With Jack Milner, the two identified the potential market, the required equipment, acquired adequate facility space and zoning in Ft. Worth, and formulated a business plan for the purpose of recycling asphalt shingles. Roofers from all across the metroplex bring their 'tear-offs' to our facility in southeast Ft. Worth. A test was initiated in May of 1997 with the Texas Department of Transportation in Corsicana where asphalt shingles were added to the hot mix asphalt on State Highway 31. It is currently being evaluated by the Texas Transportation Institute and appears to be quite viable both structurally and economically. The majority of our material is sold to rural customers where they need a low cost paving alternative and the 3/4' material is sold 'as is.As the business evolved, other avenues of revenue were addressed and our Contract Grinding Division was created. Thelin operates 6 DiamondZ tubgrinders in mobile contract grinding of land clearing, disaster cleanup, landfill debris, and in thereduction of wood wastes for many of the top soil producers. Thelin was involved in the extensive cleanup of Hurricane Georges in Ponce, Puerto Rico.Thelin receives raw compostable materials at its plant in Ft. Worth and produces in excess of 100,000 cubic yards of high quality compost annually. In addition to wholesale deliveries, Thelin sells retail high grade soil amendments and top dressings onsite.
