Campbells of Malton Ltd

B9 Organic Energy has evolved from the B9 family and has been set up specifically to develop the vast reserves of renewable energy embedded in organic matter. This organic matter is more commonly known as organic waste, and the energy potential can be harnessed using a natural process called Anaerobic Digestion. This process is the action of naturally occurring bacteria breaking down the organic material and turning it into biogas (methane), which can be used for generation of electrical power or vehicle fuel.
The Company has researched, invested and created partnerships in order to produce renewable energy by:
- Developing and managing the financing of enhanced anaerobic digestion facilities in the UK and internationally;
- Building, owning and operating enhanced anaerobic digestion facilities;
- Appraising renewable energy technologies on the market for optimum technical efficiency and bankability;
- Installing and managing infrastructure to develop landfill gas to power;
- Clean-up and compression of the landfill gas/biogas for use as a vehicle fuel.
Our People
Robert Brennan
Demonstrable track record of commercial achievement in instigating new environmental business, both on behalf of private investors and large waste companies. Combined this experience with B9s renewable energy knowledge to instigate the first major commercial AD project in NI. Now looking forward to developing the AD business as this new industry sector begins to emerge.
Ian Harvey
Founder member of the B9 Energy group, with over 20 years’ experience in renewable energy. He is a chartered accountant, and specialises in developing and funding renewable energy projects, including power purchase agreements and land leases. He has been responsible for raising over £100 million in debt and equity funding for wind, biomass and landfill gas projects.
Dr David McKee
A chartered chemical engineer, who is currently Technical Director of B9 Organic Energy Ltd and B9 Solutions Ltd. David has a wealth of experience in developing renewable energy projects, including obtaining the required planning permissions, licensing, grid connections, power purchase agreements as well as all associated technical requirements. David is currently involved in developing both large & small scale anaerobic digestion facilities, as well as developing other potential renewable energy technologies such as small to large scale biomass power plants.
William Robinson
A graduate Chemical Engineer who is undertaking a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with B9 Organic Energy and Queen’s University Belfast. He is working on researching and developing a novel treatment for anaerobic digestate in order to separate and harness the nutrient quality of this underutilised resource. This will change the perception of digestate from that of a by-product, into a desirable product. This organic fertiliser will then help to reduce dependency on imported synthetic fertilisers with future prospects of becoming a complete organic substitute.
