Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority

The Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) is a small very rural, three county, integrated solid waste authority located in North Central Pennsylvania. NTSWA is an Integrated Solid Waste System committed to the excellence in solid waste management in the Pennsylvania counties of Bradford, Tioga and Sullivan. Formed in 1973, the Authority was the first and remains the only regional three (3) county solid waste authority in Pennsylvania.The Authority provides numerous services to the community as well as educational programs and tours through the schools and local civic organizations. • Leaf Vacuum

• Electric Generation
• Spring and Fall Cleanups for Participating Municipalities
• Educational Services and Programs
• Hydroponically Grown Greens

NTSWA provides numerous educational programs and tours through the schools and local civic organizations. In 2013, the Authority provided $5,000.00 in scholarship funds to seniors pursuing an environmental education from an accredited college or university.NTSWA’s staff ensures that the facility is in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and continues to strive to sustain a state of the art facility.The Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) operates the Recycling Program as a part of an integrated solid waste management system. Materials that can be efficiently and cost effectively recycled are collected, processed and transported to markets. The NTSWA continually is looking for new markets or recycling technologies to add to the program. Unfortunately, not all materials can be recycled in our rural area. The NTSWA educational program encourages source reduction and reuse as other options for the waste.
