Roebic Laboratories, Inc., founded in 1959, in New Haven, Connecticut was established to provide consumers with environmentally friendly products that would aid their sewage disposal system and not harm the environment. The Roebic product line has expanded from five basic items to a product mix that consists of more than 35 products. Roebic has created a four step septic system maintenance program which is effective, economical and easy to use. Each step is applied in three month intervals.

• Step one K-37 Septic Tank Treatment. These beneficial bacteria break down sludge in the tank.
• Step two K-570 Leach and Drain Field Opener. After your tank is making liquids from the sludge K-570 Leach and Drain Field Opener assures that the liquids will disburse out of the drainfields.
• Step three K-87 Soap, Grease and Paper Digester will degrade soap, grease and paper that are difficult to breakdown naturally.
• Step four K-97 Main Line Cleaner to make sure the drains and pipes to the tank remain clear.

Introduction

You may have heard the old saying that no two people are exactly alike, well the same applies to septic systems, they all differ slightly in design. The systems may differ by the size of its structures, the number of distribution boxes, the length of piping, the slope of the piping, or by the number of arms in the leachfield (drainfield). System designs are dictated by both local health codes and percolation test data, which is obtained by testing the soil's ability to soak up water. Civil Engineers perform these 'percolation tests,' and then use all of the available information to design properly sized septic systems.

During the operation of most systems, backups and clogs can occur. These problems indicate that the system is improperly functioning, but luckily they usually can be fixed. On the other hand, improper maintenance results in an unseen, slow, and steady clogging of the leachfield. When a system fails due to a severely clogged leachfield, lofty repair bills may be incurred.
