Our focus was to provide specialised industrial services to oil refineries, petrochemical plants, and large industrial plants where the company's innovation, technical expertise, and higher standards of health and safety would be an advantage over local and international competitors.In the early days these were the projects Contract Resources took on.Our first major project, just one year after we established, was one of the biggest oil refinery catalyst change-out projects in the world at the time. The client was the New Zealand Refining Company and the year was 1990.Next we knocked on the doors of heavy industrial companies in Australia and Asia and asked them to show us the jobs no one else wanted to do… the projects the other guys had walked away from because they were too hard.Let us have a look at them,’ we said.Then we’d figure out how to do them better and faster. We provide refineries and petrochemical plants with a complete, 'blinds to blinds' range of services for commissioning and maintaining catalytic reactors, vessels, and columns, as well as Shutdown and Turnaround management. Contract Resources is committed to best practice operations, and as such is constantly developing new methods or improvements for both inert and non-inert entries, as well as non-entry catalyst removal. Most of the critical equipment is proprietary, and we have access to additional modern refining technology through license agreements with other parties. Our specialised mechanical services include bolt tensioning and torquing, tube bundle (heat exchanger) extraction and replacement, revamp and modification of reactor internals, and hydro-testing.Our Tank and Environmental services include mechanical preparation, sludge minimisation, tank entry and repair, and clean up of mercury contaminated materials such as sludge, catalysts, absorbents, and soil. We also provide a 'blinds to blinds' sludge treatment service using SLT technology, an emergency response service and rescue crews, and plant decontamination and demolition services.We provide automated and in-situ cleaning of process equipment, and steel and concrete cold cutting using high pressure water in hazardous environments. Our internal and external tube bundle cleaning equipment is the most advanced available.Our range of patented robotic vehicles utilising in-pipeline vehicle (IPV) technology has significant advantages over conventional pipe cleaning methods. Our precision cleaning is completed with one pass efficiency and constant monitoring; often removing deposits which are impossible to clean using conventional methods. We also provide waste removal services, furnace tube cleaning, pigging, and intelligent pigging inspection services.The Contract Resources name stands for quality and technical expertise with the company being ISO-9001 certified. From the outset more than 90% of the company's revenue has come from overseas clients. We remain New Zealand owned with the original shareholders still active on a day to day basis.
