TritonAMI, Inc

50 California Street Suite 1500 , San Francisco, California, United States | Energy

San Francisco-based TritonAMI is a technology, engineering and consulting company founded in 2006 to help water, gas and electric utilities:

  • Collect, monitor and manage complex usage data.
  • Use smart grid, advanced metering infrastructure technologies to operate more effectively and efficiently.
  • Help customers conserve with easy-to-use tools like Simon Saves, our web-based resource-management software.

With an experienced, diverse team of engineers, designers, software developers, project managers and tradesmen, our services range from technology vendor selection and financing to system maintenance and technology upgrades. And everything in between.

From turnkey, off-the-shelf programs to custom-built front- or back-ends that integrate with your existing infrastructure, TritonAMI’s smart solutions are powering a revolution in resource management and conservation.

Our Founder

Susie McMullan had a dream: To make an impact on the management and conservation of America’s natural resources.

Her vision was to bring cutting-edge technologies and advanced behavioral science together to help utility companies – and their customers – better manage and conserve water and electricity.

Today the technology, engineering, and consulting firm she founded, TritonAMI, has built a business that spans meters in the field to data in the server room, with a roster of happy customers across the country.

Before she founded TritonAMI, Susie started the Texas branch of mechanical contracting firm Star Service Inc. and grew it from an idea to $5 million in annual revenue, with a team of 30 expert mechanics and a Blue Chip customer list that included Dow Chemical, Chevron, Conoco-Phillips and Valero.

In both businesses Susie has built she’s maintained her obsession with keeping her team happy, making her customers happy, and doing the right thing for the communities in which she works.

Susie is a chemical engineer by training and began her career doing water and energy engineering studies for commercial facilities. Fun fact: in college she wowed her professors with an experiment that had anaerobic and aerobic bugs eating TNT as a model for safely disposing of hazardous waste in soils.

Overview

So we bring cutting-edge technologies, behavioral science, and custom-built monitoring tools to bear on helping you:

  • Understand and manage complex resource-use data.
  • Identify and implement more effective ways to help your customers conserve water and electricity.
  • Use cleaned, easy-to-understand, real-time data to measure and monitor usage 24 hours a day.

We’ll also work with you on technology vendor selection, financing, installation of smart-metering infrastructure, billing, smart-meter data collection and integration, system maintenance, and technology upgrades.

We put control of your management and conservation efforts where it belongs – in your hands.

That’s why our Smart Grid solutions focus on providing you with cleaned, easy-to understand, real-time data that allows you – and your customers – to measure and manage precious natural resources.

How AMI and Smart Grids Work Together

Advanced Meter Infrastructures (AMI) will be the cornerstone and backbone of emerging Smart Grids. AMI will be your window to the grid and funnel significant amounts of data (from Home Area Networks (HAN), Smart Meters, SCADA and other Smart Grid components) to Meter Data Management (MDM) software, Customer Information Service (CIS) and Billing software, Outage Management Software (OMS) and Distribution Automation (DA) systems.

Avoiding 'Garbage in Garbage out'

You can effectively utilize management tools such as MDM, CIS/Billing, OMS and DA systems only if the AMI systems provide accurate, reliable and secure data at sufficient intervals and quantities to support the level of management and control that you desire.

The design and installation of the AMI systems are, by far, the most costly and risky infrastructure improvement required to implement a Smart Grid. It will be far easier to upgrade or replace supporting software systems, if necessary, in the future than HAN’s, Smart Meters, SCADA systems or other telecommunication hardware in the field.

TritonAMI has significant, real-world, experience in the analysis, funding, selection, procurement and installation of a wide variety of AMI systems. We have successfully performed the integration of data from the AMI systems into a variety of CIS/Billing systems. We have the real-world experience to understand every facet of a Smart Grid system. We are product independent and we will recommend the best combination of field hardware and communication systems matched to your requirements and the capabilities of various, MDM, CIS, OMS and DA software systems you may consider.
