What is a Solar Tracker?
We have designed our Solar Trackers to be substantially more efficient than a typical fixed solar array. Our trackers use standard solar panels and we can cater from small stand alone systems to large grid connect arrays. The energy increase from mounting your solar array to a Kalang Solar Trackers 'Harvester DA' will reduce the payback period and increase the cost effectiveness compared to a regular solar system. The ‘Tracking’ mechanism is what makes them greatly more effective in comparison to a fixed installation. It allows the Solar Tracker to move the solar panels in the direction of the sun, thereby maximising the amount of solar energy the cells produce.
We design and implement two main types of solar tracker, Single Axis and Dual Axis. We specialise in Dual Axis Solar Trackers which follow the sun on its daily and seasonal course and offer the greatest increase in solar energy collection from your solar array.
Kalang Solar Trackers 'Harvester DA' is a active dual axis tracking system that maximises the collection of sun energy by a solar array.
The sensitive tracking circuitry does not rely on timers that assume where the sun is, or suffer from the delays and lag of refrigerant type tracking systems. Kalang Solar Trackers has developed in house electronics that use the same spectum of light as the PV array, so it can aim the array in the optimum direction, and respond to changes in an instant.
Benifits of installing a Kalang Solar Trackers' 'Harvester DA' include:
1. Up to 50% increase in energy collection by a solar array*
2. The ability to collect early morning and late afternoon sun, where a fixed array is only a fraction of its peak output
3. Reduction of PV array size, and hence cost
4.Year round maximised collection of energy
5. No climbing on roofs, or manual adjustments, all features are fully automatic.
6.No other mounting stuctures required
and so on....
The Electronics are coupled to a full motion galvanised steel support structure, that uses the 'tilt and roll' method which allows the array to be tilted to meet the optimal elevation angles for most locations in Australia and overseas.
Improvements of up to 50%* in Stand Alone Power Systems (SAPS) aplications have been recorded, allowing a reduction in array size, and hence cost. Harvester DA has been used in SAPS, Grid Connect, systems that qualify for the Australian Government rebates and as far away as Bali Indonesia.
The electronics control box has been designed to operate on a DC voltage between 11V-60V, and uses Pulse Width Modulation to control the speed of DC motors of similar voltage range. The power drawn from the batteries is negligable. The steel support frame uses heavy duty 1300Kg rated double lipped sealed and lubricated bearings, and has a range of motion that can accommodate most areas of Australia and the globe.
Kalang Solar Trackers are made to order, so there is a 2-3 week delay in delivery. Contact Kalang Solar Trackers for current pricing.
Various options are available for mounting and panel layout, and as each installation is different, Kalang Solar Trackers custom builds each Solar Tracker.
Warranty covers electronics for 12 months, and mechanical for 24 months.
