One of our business philosophies is to treat waste at its source by converting it into energy for use on-site.  We have developed a waste-to-energy concept designed to convert discarded food, paper and lawn trimmings into energy.  The conversion process we believe best suited to the job is an enzyme enhanced microbial anaerobic digestion (EEMAD) operation.

A microbial anaerobic digestion (MAD) process converts organic matter into bio-gas.  Bio-gas is a gas comprised primarily of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2).  If you remove the CO2 you have the equivalent of natural gas.  A MAD process is very much like a mechanical cow, feed stock goes in one end and ... yep, gas comes out the other.

The bio-gas can be burned on-site in a hot water heater or generator to make either hot water or electricity.  If the bio-gas produced is enhanced, meaning the CO2 is removed, it can be compressed and used as a fuel for vehicles.

C2B is offering clients the opportunity to use our fusion enzyme technology to enhance the energy output from a MAD process.  Pre-treating feed stock with enzymes increases bio-gas output as well as rate of production.  The opportunity is unique in that we are targeting clients that have feed stocks with volumes between 2 and 5 tons per day.  C2B will transfer the enzyme technology to the client (via site and application specific license) for production on-site to enhance energy output.  By pretreating feed stock with enzymes we reduce the size of the MAD process which means lower capitalization costs.  We design the MAD process so that it can be scaled as feed stock increases or decreases.  The digester is designed to be monitored and controlled remotely so as to reduce client operational burdens.  As part of the licensing we offer remote monitoring and maintenance operations for the EEMAD so that the client is free to focus on their operations.  This is how C2B makes profit and at the same time allows the client access to technology upgrades.

The direct benefits of EEMAD operations are on-site energy production, waste becomes a resource which is recovered, reduced energy costs and a improved carbon footprint.  Subsequent benefits are reduction in waste transportation costs (avoided costs), production of materials that can be used as soil enhancements for supplemental sales (secondary revenue stream) or growing food or flowers and the generation of carbon credits that may also be sold.

Avoided costs are different for each client and are based on the volume of waste diverted from your waste hauler.  The carbon credits are related to the amount of methane recovered and used for your energy application.  To receive carbon credits the project must be submitted to a carbon credit program.     Acceptance is based on using an acceptable method of monitoring methane production.  Sale of products; in some instances the liquid and solid waste from the digester can be sold as fertilizer or compost.

The cost for EEMAD is primarily based on the volume and composition of feed stocks available and secondarily on the MAD design.  The appearance of the EEMAD operation can be altered by disguising the digester to look like a barn or covered in decorative murals by local artists.  Or you may use the tanks to sell advertising space as a way of potentially generating another source of income.

C2B participates in the EPA partner program which is designed to help alternative or renewable energy providers help their customers by identifying tax incentives and capital cost supplements.  C2B also works with money lenders that specialize in renewable energy projects.

C2 Biotechnologies harnesses the power of molecular biology to genetically fuse the genes from two enzymes with desirable characteristics into one genetic element. All organisms require the use of enzymes to function and survive. Generally, each enzyme is encoded by one gene. A dogma of biology is one gene, one protein, one activity. Evolution occurs naturally by mutations in genes that result in proteins with biological activities that confer better chances for organism survival when challenged by the environment. Evolutionary processes have resulted in the development of many organisms with enzymes adapted to various environments. Using the techniques of molecular biology we can direct evolution to genetically fuse selected target genes into one coding element. The hybrid gene encodes for one protein that has two subunits.
