AGRICULTURE
SWEET SORGHUM – Member of the grass family, similar in size and sugar content of cane.
ADVANTAGES OF SWEET SORGHUM AS ENERGY CROP
Total biomass and sugar content can be high
Easy to plant and can be grown in most soils
Rapid growth to maturity (Estimate – 110-130 days) multiple harvests annually
Feedstock residue (Bagasse) suitable for boiler fuel
Drought Resistant – Uses 60-70% less water than
sugar cane

PRODUCTS
ETHANOL
Is an alcohol based fuel made by fermenting sugars derived from renewable agricultural crops.
Is added to gasoline as an oxygenate to improve performance and reduce carbon emissions.
Over 40% of all gasoline used in the U.S is blended with ethanol.
Major automobile manufacturers are producing flex fuel vehicles which can run on E-85 (85% ethanol).
Ethanol is the biofuel with the largest current production in the world.
BIODIESEL
Is a renewable fuel produced entirely from animal fats or vegetable oils.
Can be used full strength or blended with petroleum based diesel fuels.
Burns cleaner thereby reducing carbon emissions.
FERTILIZERS
A byproduct of SRF’s Ethanol production is an assortment of agricultural fertilizers.
Converts vinasse liability into an asset.
Utilizes internationally patented process.
CO2 CARBON DIOXIDE
A byproduct of Ethanol production is CO2.
Capturing the CO2 allows SRF incremental revenue opportunities by marketing to soft drink manufacturers.
