This arrangement continued until the demise of the company in 1987. Rema Tip Top International then assumes control of the distribution of with nine employees many of who came across from GKN.On the industrial side in 1978 Peter Langford founded a company called Beltreco (short for Belt Recovery), with a Ute and the goal to recover conveyor belts. He became the Industrial product distributor for Rema Tip Top International in WA and later on exclusively for Australia. In the following years Rema Tip Top supported Beltreco with technical training, supervision and special designed products I.e. following:- Remaline 40 Orange was developed for the gold fields in WA due to their request of a coloured 40 Shore rubber. Chemoline 4 was developed by Georg Spindler as a solution for the increasing temperature and acid content in Olympic Dam.In 2001 Beltreco was taken over by Sandvik mining. As part of the transaction Sandvik retained the exclusive distribution rights for Rema Tip Top Industrial products. This arrangement remained in place until 2011 when sandvik, overnight, decided to relinquish their distributorship and leave the industry.Rema Tip Top commenced direct distribution in Queensland and parts of NSW on 1st March 1988 and implemented plans to ensure growth and profitability in the Australian market. This became the official birthday of Rema Tip Top Australia. Distributors are appointed in other parts of Australia to provide national coverage. By July 1988 direct distribution is active in North Queensland.Goodyear (then called south pacific tyres) officially becomes a key account on 1st may 1989 when we are awarded preferred supplier status. Goodyear remains a key account to this day. Direct distribution commences in South Australia in June 1989.The first few years of operation were difficult. Sales were hard to make and profits were very small and very often non existent. The hope for a bright future was reinforced on 1st December 1990 when we were awarded the Beaurepaires national supply contract. For the first time we had access to regular sales but had the challenge of building a reliable national network that was company operated. In this year direct distribution commenced in Victoria and Tasmania. In a few short weeks capability is built to service the entire Beaurepaires network, nationally. The affects of our ability to compete in the market were demonstrated when a major competitor B&J rocket (a Pang Distributor) closes their doors in June 1991. By October 1991 direct distribution has commenced in Western Australia. In early 1992 we are appointed preferred suppliers to Boral Tyres and Bridgestone Australia. In June 1992 Schrader ( a Maruni distributor) closes their doors. Preferred supplier for Kmart is awarded in August 1993 and for TyrePower in September 1994.
