Recap North Lanarkshire

The firm aims to supply the community, public and businesses, with a professional collection and redistribution service. It has a showroom and supporting warehouse in Lenziemill, Cumbernauld. The friendly and helpful staff ensure clients requests and requirements are met wherever possible. The service is intended to reduce the volume of goods 'still fit for purpose' going to landfill sites. 

In addition to assisting the community through direct sales Recap works closely in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council Housing and Social Work Department, support agencies and other charities. It accepts formal referrals from these organisations on behalf of their more vulnerable clients. Items of furniture are offered to these referrals at considerable discount from the showroom retail price. Recap currently receives no direct subsidy or funding.

The organisation collects furniture and household goods donated by the public and businesses in the local community. Recap supports the local community, as a whole by operating an open door policy for its showroom. Furniture items are fairly priced thus making them more affordable to general customers’ whist generating enough income for the organisation to support its current business model. 

Over the past eight years of operation, Recap has demonstrated that there is a strong and continued, year on year, demand for the services it provides. Based on current economic climate indications it is anticipated that the demand (need) for these services will continue to increase as families deal with the consequences of the current recession and rising inflation.
