M & J Bowers Ltd were established in 1973 in Yeovil, Somerset at the very start of the recycling industry, when the importance of recycling paper and cardboard waste was first realised.

By 1984, a key feature of professional businesses such as banks and legal firms was the security of the sensitive and confidential information they held on their clients. The increased levels of identity fraud and the consumer lead demands for protection of personal information resulted in significant legislation being passed and it is now essential that companies and businesses protect themselves against possible prosecution.

With our existing shredding facilities, M & J Bowers were at the forefront of secure confidential waste management and our reputation as a data and document destruction company was quickly recognised by organisations including regional council departments, legal organisations and medical institutes located throughout the South West.

The company has continued to expand and it now has an extensive fleet of purpose built vehicles that collect over 100 tonnes of confidential data, documents and company waste (including unwanted clothing such as obsolete uniforms) every week throughout South and Central England from Cornwall, Devon and Dorset up to the West Midlands, Gloucestershire and into London.

We also understand the importance of on-site destruction facilities and our mobile shredder, the Big Green Destruction Machine, can now attend any premises where there is a company or legal requirement for on site document shredding. Our mobile document shredding service is particularly useful for legal and medical firms who can personally witness the destruction of their documents.

Our aim is to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and our methods of operation are under constant review for improvement and to match your company's data security requirements. All our staff are CRB checked and trained to the highest standard (BS EN 15713:2009) to ensure total customer satisfaction.

We are always looking to the future and recent improvements include the replacement of plastic sacks with heavy duty paper sacks. These remain sealed and are deposited directly into the shredder; removing the need to open and empty the contents of the sack. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips, wallets, etc., the bag of paperwork leaves your office and can be shredded within minutes.
