ABOUT
In business since 1921, Goldman Recycling is Arkansas’ oldest and most experienced recycling company. Our company works closely with clients to create customized, economical recycling programs that are good for the environment and create significant costs savings for businesses.
We work hard to provide clients a “one-stopshop” for their recycling and waste handling needs. Customer service is at the forefront of our business because we believe that successful recycling programs begin with true partnerships.
HISTORY
Goldman Recycling was started by the Goldman family in 1921 and is the only Arkansas-owned recycling company servicing the central Arkansas area. The company originally recycled rags, which were ripped for their fibers and then sold to paper companies to make fine writing papers. As the paper market grew, so did the company, branching out to include various grades of papers.
In the mid ‘70s, the Fenley family purchased Goldman, continuing the long tradition of a service-first, family-owned business. The family added many new services, including the largest baler in the state at the time and an in-house multi-product shredder.
Today, the customer-service focus continues under the leadership of new owners Randy Pierce and Matthew Adams. Since taking ownership in early 2007, Randy and Matthew have changed the company name to Goldman Recycling to more accurately reflect the nature of the business. The two continue to expand services and programs, helping businesses in all industries create cost-efficient and environmentally sound waste reduction programs.
Before purchasing Goldman, Randy and Matthew started their own shredding company. ShredSmart was founded in 2004, and, today, serves as the on-site document destruction for some of Arkansas’ largest healthcare, banking and telecommunications companies. The two companies work hand in hand in their mission to help companies be more environmentally friendly. All documents shredded by ShredSmart are then recycled at Goldman Recycling.
RECYCLABLES
Paper
Paper is one of the easiest materials to recycle. Paper recycling is increasing at an encouraging rate, yet business’ still have a ways to go. Office paper recycling is now up to 36 percent of total use and newspaper recycling is up to 46 percent.
Once the paper is received at our recycling plant, it is sorted, graded and delivered to a paper mill. Once at the paper mill it is added to water and then turned into pulp. The paper is then screened, cleaned and de-inked through a number of processes until it is ready to be made into new paper products such as newsprint, cardboard, packaging, tissue and office items.

Consulting services on recycling and waste removal “best practices”
Recycling turns your waste materials into new, usable products. Of course, it’s no secret that recycling is good for the environment, but it’s also good for the bottom line. A business that practices source reduction, reuse and recycling can help reduce operating expenses. Reducing the amount of trash your business creates is the best way to reduce monthly waste disposal and improve your company’s bottom line. All waste reduction activities, including recycling, will reduce the amount you pay for waste disposal and send less recyclable items to landfills.
With less waste created and disposed of, “going green” is truly a win-win situation for businesses and the communities where they operate. Recycling diverts materials from landfills, thus extending the life of the landfill, saving communities money and using normally wasted materials as feedstock for new products.
