Lakeshore Hauling was founded on October 5th, 2022 by then 17-year-old Keller Westman. At the time, Keller had about $10 to his name, and was sick of having to ask his parents for money. He drove a pickup truck, and knew that he could use it to make money. At about 2:00pm on October 5th, 2022, Keller got the idea to join local Facebook groups and advertise 'moving, junk removal, and anything that requires a pickup truck.' His advertisement was an instant hit, as by 6:00pm, he had two jobs lined up for that very evening. From that moment on, Keller knew that there was a market for his services, and jumped at the opportunity. Keller continued to post on local Facebook groups, Nextdoor, and Craigslist until he simply could not keep up with the demand. As Keller's skills improved, his jobs started getting bigger. In January of 2023, Keller found himself on his first long distance job. Keller was tasked with moving some high-end furniture from a house in Leland, Michigan, to a house in Lincolnshire, Illinois. This job proved to be a turning point for Lakeshore Hauling, as it is when Keller shifted Lakeshore Hauling from a side-hustle/hobby to a company.

Since then, Lakeshore Hauling has done several jobs in Detroit, Rockford, Peoria, Racine, and in parts of Northern Indiana. Lakeshore Hauling has grown from one truck to four, one employee to fifteen, and from one client to two-hundred in the span of eighteen months. Keller is deeply thankful for all of the people, especially his parents for gifting him a pickup truck, for giving him the opportunity grow this business.

Our team consists of high school students from schools near Highland Park, Illinois. Most of our team attends or attended Highland Park High School or New Trier High School, giving us the opportunity to operate efficiently all over the North Shore.
