Tuff Tanks was started back in 1995 by my dad Raymond Behrens. He was on a quest to find a better option for livestock water tanks for his family’s ranch. Raymond had heard of people using large OTR tires as an option so he started his journey to make this a reality. Since these tires were made out of rubber and virtually indestructible, the name Tuff Tanks was formed with the slogan, “The Name Says It All”. Alongside Raymond was his oldest son Judd, who started working full time for the company in 1998. For the next thirteen years Raymond and Judd tested out many different techniques to process these large OTR tires into livestock water tanks, squeegees and other agricultural products. There were many different products that Tuff Tanks established into their line of work and offered to ranchers or anyone needing a better quality product. These are still being use today. Over the years and after the passing of the founder of Tuff Tanks, Judd has modernized the processes and procedures to take an OTR tire and recycle it into a product farmers and ranchers alike love. With custom designed machines created, Tuff Tanks can process these OTR tires faster than ever before, while also meeting strict safety standards. These safety standards are what set Tuff Tanks above the rest. Tuff Tanks keeps MSHA certifications up to date, making it possible to start the recycling process on site at the mine. This option helps keep costs down as the tanks produced can be direct shipped to their final destinations.

Tuff Tanks services the OTR recycling industry not only in Colorado, but also in Texas, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Nevada, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, New Mexico, South Dakota, Kansas, California, Arizona and Idaho. A couple of our customers are the Division of Wildlife and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

One of Tuff Tanks advantages is that we have worked with the Trucking Industry throughout the ever changing fuel prices so we are able to keep the freight costs in our favor.
