Our company

BIOFACTORY S.p.A. represents one of the leading composting plants in Italy.

The BIOFACTORY composting process is certified with the UNI EN ISO 14001 Integrated Management System.

BIOFACTORY recovers more than 100,000 t of waste annually through an aerobic bio-oxidative process, divided as follows:

WET WASTE

made up almost entirely of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (FORSU) obtained from door-to-door separate collection.

GREEN WASTE

consisting of waste from pruning and maintenance of parks and gardens, as well as biodegradable waste not intended for human consumption.

With the controlled transformation and stabilization process of organic waste, BIOFACTORY produces approximately 40,000 tons/year of quality 'mixed composted soil improver' and 'green composted soil improver', as defined in accordance with Legislative Decree 75/2010.

Quality is guaranteed by a voluntary certification quality mark which is awarded to CIC members, the Italian Composting Consortium, following compliance with certain requirements such as product traceability and predefined chemical-physical characteristics. BIOFACTORY Compost, also registered in the Register of Fertilizers permitted in Organic Agriculture, can be used as is in agriculture, in particular fruit growing and specialized horticulture, and in the open field to improve soil fertility, or mixed with other matrices to produce growing substrates professional and hobby used in horticulture, horticulture and nurseries. Fertil S.r.l. is responsible for the marketing of these substrates throughout the national territory.

The company has an analysis laboratory for the chemical-physical control of the quality of incoming raw materials, of the composting process parameters as well as of the soil produced. At the company laboratory, chemical-agricultural analyzes are conducted aimed at formulating agronomic plans for the use of compost to optimize its application performance.

Since 2003, in order to encourage continuous improvement of the separate waste collection system of its suppliers, BIOFACTORY has established the Certificate of Successful Recovery which is sent annually to municipal administrations and contributing companies. With this certificate we want to demonstrate to the contributing municipalities that their waste has actually been recovered.

With the composting process you contribute to a sustainable use of resources: 

Reducing organic waste and plant waste to be disposed of in landfills. 

Limiting the use of non-renewable resources to produce chemical fertilizers.

Closing the organic waste management cycle: from separate collection to the use of the finished product.

Of the waste treated, less than 2% is disposed of in special plants, in the form of plastic and other inert materials; more than 98% of waste is therefore actually recovered.
