Our Mission

Accelerate greening

We want to make the cities in our world greener and healthier. As a first step, people, companies and organizations must of course reduce their ecological footprint and prevent CO2 emissions as much as possible. At the same time, we also want to make investing in greening more financially attractive with the Climate Credit system of Green City Netherlands. Our goal is to use this approach to accelerate the greening of our living, working and living environment enormously.

Green City Netherlands is the first initiative in Europe to work on climate adaptation on a large scale. By means of an integrated approach, we will make our environment greener, healthier and more sustainable. A green environment is not only more pleasant to live in. It is also healthier for people, just as it is for animals. In this way we also contribute to the biodiversity within our cities.

Creating ecological value

Choosing a green city today means a direct improvement of the living environment and provides a powerful impulse to the circular economy in one's own region and the creation of new green jobs.

By certifying green roof systems by independent parties and making the impact on the environment measurable, we can link each project to an economic value. By checking both the plans and the actual realization, we make greening measurable and tradable. By greening with the Climate Credit system, we not only create ecological value, but also make it interesting for individuals, companies and organizations that want to invest in the greening of our world.

Choosing a green city today means a direct improvement of

Green City Netherlands wants to accelerate greening by means of:

1. Independent certification of green roof systems.

2. Accurately recording the ecological impact of each green project.

3. Linking the ecological value to an economic value by placing Climate Credits on the market.

4. Continuous monitoring of projects (eg by using sensor technology) of energy savings, reduction of CO2 emissions, water retention and the impact on biodiversity.
