'Our Mission'

The Skye Metal Recovery, Inc. process is a ground-breaking thermal destruction technique which solves problems for several industries in a safe, economical, environmentally conscious manner.

Waste Reduction - The Skye process feeds wastes that would normally end up in a landfill. Often these are specialized landfills that have limited capacity. Through our use of chemistry and technology, those wastes become valuable commodities, not garbage buried in the Earth.

Raw Material Conservation - Many of the products made in the Skye process are already in scarce supply. In fact, in some cases, the natural reserves of these products will be completely tapped out before 2050. Our production eases some of the pressure on these non-renewable resources.

Economic Benefits - Not only does the Skye pilot plant in Marietta, Ohio create jobs in Southeastern Ohio, but the materials produced at the plant are often able to be sold into the market place at a lower price than their naturally occurring counterparts, making the use of Skye's recycled materials a smart decision for the businesses that use them from both an environmental and an economic standpoint.

'Conservation And Recovery'

The conservation of our natural resources and their proper use constitute the fundamental issue which underlies almost every other problem in our nation. Throughout the world economy, it has been more efficient, more cost effective, or simply easier to mine raw materials for the production of metal than to recycle. Consequently, vast amounts of these precious “used” resources have not been recovered. As the 21st century unfolds, we increasingly find diminishing and/or more expensive raw materials. By mid-century, it will be cost prohibitive to obtain the natural feedstock, and recycling will be the preferred method for securing raw materials. The use of these recyclable raw materials will grow increasingly important into the future. The competition for these raw material streams will grow as the need for raw materials continues to expand. “Surface Mining” is a term used by the family of processors/recyclers which allow them to generate valuable raw materials from these recyclables. Skye has developed a team of talented surface miners; and along with the ability to quickly and inexpensively construct and operate plants specifically designed to recover these identified raw material streams, has an opportunity to secure and recycle large volumes of important materials. With over 150 years of experience in the production and marketing of metals and alloys, in recycling, and in material handling, we have the personnel to identify useable raw materials today as they are generated by various industries but not being recycled. These raw materials are either sitting at the generator’s location WAITING for the solution to come to their door or are ultimately ending up in landfills across the U.S. Skye Metal Recovery, Inc. is on the road to becoming the world leader in thermal recovery of precious and semi-precious metals from waste streams.
