Destampes Emballages is one of the main Supply Chain partners in France and one of the top 4 French pallet manufacturers. For 63 years, the company has been adapting to the market to always better meet the specific demands of its customers.

FROM THE GUARDS SAWMILL TO THE DESTAMPES COMPANY

The history of the company begins in 1952 when Marc Destampes decides to set up in the heart of his native region, Poitou-Charentes, a company offering the manufacture of wooden pallets. This is how he established in his native village of Etagnac (Charente 16), the Gardes sawmill which later became Destampes Emballages with the arrival in 1980 of his son.

Concerned about preserving the environment, the company will constantly develop its activity in a circular economy approach. This is how the company chose in 1990 to develop a pallet recycling activity on its sites in Limoges, Etagnac and Angoulême to offer its customers a 360° offer: collection, sorting and repair of pallets. This eco-responsible chain now allows the company to use its repair residue to produce the energy necessary for the proper functioning of its dryers (5 dryers in Etagnac and 1 in Meymac).

Over the years, the Destampes Emballages company decided to develop a logging center (4 buyers present in the Limousin massif) in order to better control its raw resources. This activity, associated with its two sawmills (Felletin and Meymac), gives the company flexibility and autonomy, thus ensuring its customers consistent quality and short lead times.

The company took the turn to automated production in 1991 with its first flexible line.
Today, Destampes Emballages has 3 automated production lines bringing its production capacity to 13,000 pallets/day with a product portfolio of more than 10,000 models used by more than 300 customers from all industrial sectors. The takeover of the Bézu-Saint-Eloi infrastructure in the Eure department in 2001 enabled Destampes Emballage to turn to a new building clientele in the Paris region and in the north of France. This site, with its 2-entry pallet manufacturing line, is able to adapt to manufacturing in small, tailor-made series with flexibility and responsiveness.

The company then invested in biomass boilers (2 on the Etagnac site) as well as in dryers enabling it to manufacture dry pallets, in particular for the food and pharmaceutical sectors (pallet without trace of mould), or meeting ISPM15 treatment standards for the needs of its customers.
