This may not be high on your list of priorities right now, but if you do not properly maintain your septic system, you will slowly damage and compromise its functional lifespan. It is therefore recommended that you have your septic tank pumped out every 2 to 3 years depending on how many people are living in the house and the water table in your area.

Also, to help prolong the life of your septic system you should add an enzyme into it once a month. This helps maintain a natural bacteria in the tank to break down the solids, preventing them from entering into the laterals or drainfield. If the solids end up past your tank, eventually your septic system will fail and you will not be able to use your plumbing system in your home. Should that unfortunate day arise, we do repair failing septic systems.
