Helping Our Members For More Than 50 Years

When the culture of recycling did not yet exist and nobody gave importance to waste and its management, our union members were already working on recycling. It was a way of earning a living in the hard times of the post-Spanish Civil War: material was collected that no one wanted to use on the streets anymore, to give it a second use.

Gremi de Recuperació de Catalunya was created on November 17, 1953 in the city of Barcelona, ​​(Spain) under the name PROVINCIAL UNION GUILD OF SCRAP MACHINES , as a result of the concern of 15 ferrous and non-ferrous material scrap dealers due to the spectacular growth of your sector.

Due to the current legislation in which the right of association was prohibited, the Guild was created through the Vertical Union directed by officials of the Regime with great influence within the political and business establishments.

The Recovery Union Of Catalonia Today

The Gremi currently has more than 320 associated companies between wholesalers and retailers, a figure that represents 70% of the companies in the sector in Catalonia that manage more than 90% of the material recovered in this autonomous community. Today we also work with 400 waste management plants.

This situation gives our entity great independence and objectivity when it comes to working and caring for the interests of the members.

Paper and paperboard.

Glass.

Disused vehicles.

Drums.

Other materials such as wood, tires, textiles...
