OUR STORY

A1 Septic & Pumping has been family owned for over 20 years. Shane Stech purchased the business from his wife Heather’s Uncle in 2014. Heather is an RN with Cedar Valley Primary Access in Waterloo, IA. They live in La Porte City and have 2 son’s, Dylan and Brandon. Dylan is presently a Junior at the University of Northern Iowa majoring in business, Brandon is a Senior at Union High School in La Porte City. The Princess of their family is their dog Shelby. She is an adorable (but VERY stubborn) Lhasa Apso. She loves to ride along in the big trucks or snuggle up on the floor below the office manager’s feet.

In 2016 Shane hired Heather’s sister, Courtney Foulk, as his office manager. She doesn’t just manage the business, she has also been known to “manage” their entire family. Courtney is married to Andy Foulk. They also live in La Porte City and have 3 children Shay (married to Hannah), Bailey, and Brody.

In 2017 Shane hired his wife’s cousin’s husband, Cody Demaro. Cody is married to Megan, they have 2 adorable young children, Weston and Carlie and live in Waterloo. Cody drives the “BIG” pumper truck for A1.

In December 2019 Shane hired Sean Schott, long-time friend of the family. Sean is married to Carrie, they have two grown children, Kyle and Jenna. Sean works part-time for A1, when he isn’t helping us, he stays busy as a Waterloo Firefighter, dryland coach for the Waterloo Warrior Hockey team, and he is also the owner/operator of Schott Construction.

Also in December, Dylan Stech, son of Heather and Shane, joined the A1 team as a part-time driver/technician. Dylan is a full-time student at UNI, he plans to graduate in May of 2021 with a degree in Business Management. Dylan is also working part-time as an intern with John Deere at their Tractor Cab Assembly Plant as part of their parameter services team.

Since purchasing the business in 2015 Shane has expanded A1’s services from septic and grease trap pumping to tank inspections, car wash/dealership/shops/garage pit cleaning, line jetting, and line location.

A1 prides itself on customer service and satisfaction. We are available to help 24/7. The majority of our customers are businesses/restaurants in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area. We value customer referrals and feel the ultimate compliment is when a new customer calls and said they were referred by one of our other customers.
