Since 1993

In 1993 Jeff Downum formed D&D Disposal, after working in his family's trash business(Downum's Waste Service), for nearly 20 years. Over the course of the next 24 years Jeff built the company by serving townships and rural areas of Lawrence and Randolph counties for Residential Trash Services. In 2017 Jeff Downum sold D&D Disposal to BJ & Heather Hibbard, who rebranded the company as Southern Waste Management. The Hibbards continued to grow the business by adding roll off dumpsters and junk removal services. These added services quickly become the core of the business. In addition to roll off dumpster services Southern Waste Management also specializes in Catastrophic Disaster Remediation. From Florida to New York their crews have traveled all over the Eastern United States cleaning up debris ranging from Refinery Explosions to Hurricane damages, assisting FEMA, The Army Corp of Engineers and local Emergency Response operations in recovery after catastrophic disasters. The Southern Waste Management crews also contract for most National Retailers as the preferred vendor for debris removal. The Hibbards have built Southern Waste Management into a company capable of large scale, high profile remediation and debris removal while keeping small-town, family values instilled in the company. Most days you will find Heather answering the phones and BJ working in the field. This sense of pride in ownership and devotion to customers is what has propelled Southern Waste Management into the company it is today!
