A family owned and operated waste management company providing services throughout southern Vermont for over 30 years.

In the 1980’s Ted and Tim Hubbard inherited a waste management company almost one million dollars in debt. Failing to make ends meet, the two brothers took the challenge head on with one quest – to save the family name. Longtime Rutland, VT natives (the family dates to the 1800’s). They have been a source of community, reliability and you guessed it – waste removal for their fellow residents.

With negative equity and a lot of hard work, Ted and Tim got to work. They rebranded Hubbard Brothers Inc. in 1987 with three employees delivering roll off dumpsters throughout Southern VT. With competitive pricing, hard work and building relationships they watched the seed of a small company grow. Within a few years they started to see a return on their hard work, finally collected a paycheck and even earned enough money to purchase B&B in the early 1990’s.

Acquiring B&B’s rear load trucking company lead Hubbard Brothers’ to a new venture – residential and commercial weekly, biweekly and monthly pickups. B&B remained a part of Hubbard Brothers for almost 30 years before being sold to a competitor.

In the early 90’s after acquiring B&B, Ted and Tim recognized that they needed to serve clients by both truck and a home location which lead to the development of their private Vermont state transfer station.

After successfully building roll off, residential and transfer station divisions Ted and Tim set out to build a scrap metal facility. In the early 2000’s they started welcoming both ferrous and nonferrous metals to their site on Cold River Road.

Approximately ten years ago the entrepreneurs decided to add an additional portfolio to their services – demolition and excavation. Ted and Tim recognized a need in their community for a company who can observe, deconstruct and clean up tear downs, land clearings and beyond. With the use of their expertise and heavy machinery they have been able to assist local fire departments, commercial and residential owners with their land clearing and beyond.

Today you will find Ted, Tim and their son’s on trucks or in the yard at 1678 Cold River Road: delivering roll off dumpsters, accepting scrap metal, garbage, recycling, compost and bidding on your next tear down… Today’s focus is simple – serve the people of our great community and keep the family business alive for generations to come.
