TrashMax will perform a detailed analysis of the client’s current situation by performing an audit on the waste and recycling invoices for the past 6-12 months and survey the site and determine a guaranteed savings amount and make an offer back to the client. The key is to have several properties because we will be able to make some very large gains on some and almost no gain on others so the larger the sample size the greater the chance for savings.

Another way that we will be able to produce revenue is to be able to negotiate and renegotiate contracts on behalf of our clients in order to drive more savings. We have excellent relationships with all of the major haulers

TrashMax is a consulting service very similar the services provided by a bookkeeper, accountant or an attorney. You could do your own taxes but most companies don’t, because they don’t know enough about the tax laws. Same goes for legal concerns, you don’t want to hire an attorney but the laws are complicated and confusing for us who don’t study law. However unlike the other trades, TrashMax does not cost your company one penny unless we, first show you saving and prove our worth in black and white.

Industry Overview

The trash industry is a 50 Billion dollar industry. A report by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) most recent data, US generated about 250 million tons of “municipal solid waste” in 2010. The companies are all basically operating under the same business model, price and quality make the difference in getting the account. The industry standard contract consists of a 3-5 year agreement that is automatically renewed unless written notice is provided within a certain time period of 30-120 days prior to the expiration of the agreement.

These agreements are extremely one sided in favor of the trash companies and they can raise rates at any moment as they see fit.

Given their terms of the agreements, for the most part these trash companies are very much interested in maintaining business and will fight to keep the business. Likewise they will go even further than the extra mile to get new business.

A regional property management company hired TrashMax to review its portfolio. After discussing the findings with the management company, a decision was made to implement consolidated billing for properties and to change vendors at some of the locations that were currently using expensive, government-mandated services.

The concern was that there were numerous contracts signed on behalf of the properties with waste hauling firms, most with five-year, auto-renewing clauses (so-called “evergreen” contracts are commonplace in the hauling industry) designed to prevent changes in service from being implemented.

TrashMax successfully exited every contract on behalf of the management firm and, as their spokesperson said, “Saved the company money.” Billing was streamlined, is now understandable, and can be paid with one transaction each month for all locations. The end result was a direct cost saving to the client.
