AVA Waste Recycling Augsburg was founded on December 20, 1991 as a GmbH. On January 2nd, 2019 the conversion into a municipal company (KU) took place. Guarantor of the KU is the Augsburg Waste Association (AZV), whose members are the city of Augsburg and the districts of Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg.
