A HISTORY MADE OF AUDACITY AND INNOVATION

Innovation is an integral part of our activities. Having often shown boldness, Gaudreau Environnement has actively contributed to shaping the history of the management of recyclable materials in Quebec since its founding in 1958.

From the 1960s, the founder and owner of Gaudreau Environnement, Jacques Gaudreau, was a true visionary. At the time, there were few regulations governing the management of domestic waste and scrap was burned. Jacques Gaudreau opposes it; the contractor recommends burial instead. It is also changing the collection method to promote the recovery of cardboard, wooden boxes, glass bottles and plastic containers. And despite general skepticism, he is pushing for the development of a stricter regulatory framework.

During the 1970s, Gaudreau Environnement progressed steadily, and innovation was very present. The company builds new facilities, opens the first landfill site, buys its first side-loading trucks and signs agreements to supply companies with recovered materials. Gaudreau Environnement is one of the first to quickly adopt the new environmental quality standards imposed by the government.

During the 1980s, Gaudreau Environnement diversified its activities and doubled its workforce. The company adds front-loading containers to its offer, distributes the first gray wheeled bins and now empties septic tanks. With these innovations, Gaudreau Environnement is ushering in the era of collection automation and standardization. From the 90s, the succession is prepared with the arrival of the sons of Jacques Gaudreau, Daniel and André. The company also acquires a first sorting center, a major turning point. Resolutely, it is moving forward with recycling, composting and a new selective collection system alternately.
