Environmental Waste Solutions (EWS)

Parker South, Arizona, United States | Waste Management

EWS offers a variety of options for a safe and cost-effective method of disposing, recycling and treating a variety of wastes. In order to determine the most effective and environmentally responsible way of handling your waste, EWS evaluates the waste based on type contamination, the concentration and physical characteristics.

Facility Details

The Facility consists of the main office, receiving platform and waste process building. These structures effectively control exposure of waste to the environment and provide pollution controls in the event of an accidental release.

OUR MISSION

Environmental Waste Solutions is dedicated to the highest quality customer service, and to providing sustainable solutions that support the common goal of protecting our planet.

Office

The office structure provides an area for sales, administration and record keeping. A portion of the office will be utilized for laboratory analysis equipment. The office also provides a climate-controlled rest area for facility personnel and transporters.

Receiving Platform

Incoming transport vehicles are processed here. The concrete surface and berm protect ground water and surface waters from contamination. Bulk solid material accumulation containers are stage in and around this area for consolidating waste materials. The large structural awnings prevent contact with rain water and limits wind dispersion.

Waste Processing Building 1

Building 1 provides space for protected waste handling and storage. The buildings surface is designed to provide containment in the event of a spill. Non-Bulk storage containers are staged here temporarily when acceptability is in question. Bulk liquid accumulation tanks are located in this building as well.

Permit

EWS is a fully permitted facility for accepting Non-RCRA waste in the state of Arizona. EWS is subject to inspections by the ADEQ and Federal EPA, which can include emission testing, facility inspection, sampling and records inspection.

EWS’s commitment to developing a safe and secure facility includes incorporating weekly inspections, air monitoring program and a Comprehensive Pollution Liability Insurance program to ensure the safe operations of the facility.

Waste Management & Tracking

Customers will be required to profile the waste prior to delivery. EWS reserves the right to request any testing or documentation it feels necessary before approving the profile. All waste is required to have a valid approval number before being accepted. EWS handles each customer’s waste independently and each waste stream will have a unique profile number. When incoming material is inspected, each item is segregated, labeled with a barcode and tracked through the entire cradle to grave process. Containers are opened and inspected for conformity with the profile and shipping documents. The waste is also subject to inhouse testing for flash point, pH, VOC’s (by PID) and dissolved soils when applicable. As the waste is scanned and processed, the steps are tracked and stored in our state-of-the-art software program for audit and record keeping purposes.

Waste Handling

Safe and compliant waste handling is a critical aspect of the facility’s operations. Facility personnel only process waste after it has been approved and verified.

Receiving

Incoming transport vehicles are processed at the Receiving Platform. Waste undergoing extended verification will be temporarily stored in Building 1. Verified waste can be unloaded from transport vehicles.

Offloading Solids

Verified solid waste can be offloaded. For non-bulk containers, a compatible accumulation bin is identified, and the container is emptied into it. For bulk loads or loads that cannot be easily emptied into a tall bin; the contents of the container are offloaded onto the Receiving Platform where it is easily loaded into the accumulation bin.

Offloading Liquids

Verified liquids, both bulk and non-bulk loads are directed to Building 1. A compatible liquid storage tank will be identified, and the liquid filled containers are then pumped into the bulk accumulation tanks.

Waste Storage

The volume of waste stored on site varies. For most waste streams; off-site disposal will occur once 20-40 yards of material has been accumulated. Accumulation time is not anticipated to exceed one month for any waste stream. A solid waste transfer facility may store waste on site for no more than one year.
