KAABS

Hjortshögsvägen 15 , Helsingborg, Scania , Sweden | Scrap Metal Recycling

KAABS gives new life to scrap metal

By recycling steel and metal scrap, KAABS is part of the circular economy and contributes to a more sustainable future for society as a whole. Collected scrap is inspected, sorted and processed to meet the steel and metal works' requirements for quality so that it can eventually be used as recycled raw material for new products.

KAABS extracts metal from bottom ash

Slag gravel is the waste industry's name for processed bottom ash from the incineration of household and industrial waste in a roasting pan. As a subcontractor to NSR, KAABS handles approximately 35,000 tonnes of bottom ash per year from Öresundskraft's incineration plant in Vera Park. KAABS screens and sorts the ash into different fractions and extracts metals with the help of e.g. magnetic separation and eddy current separation. The residual product, the slag gravel, is used today in NSR's area, while the various metals that have been extracted go to steel and metal plants and then become recycled raw materials for new products.
