VafabMiljö

VafabMiljö is a municipal association formed by the municipalities in Västmanland County and the municipalities of Heby and Enköping. We work with sustainable and environmentally sound waste management and recycling. About 330,000 people live in this region and there are about 16,000 companies that generate waste.

Our mission is to take care of this waste in an environmentally friendly way. The goal is primarily to reduce the amount of waste, the remaining waste should be considered a resource and recycled as far as is technically and economically possible. VafabMiljö also works with transporting waste from industries and companies. The most important values ​​in our work are sustainable environmental considerations, good service, good quality, high efficiency, great commitment and great competence.

We operate 18 Recycling Centers (Recycling Centers) around the region, of which six are in Västerås. There, private individuals can leave bulky waste (eg scrap metal, garden waste, plastic, well, etc.) and their hazardous waste and electrical waste. We also run five waste stations, several of which are now transhipment stations. An active landfill is located at Gryta waste station in Västerås. Through the Gas unit, we produce biogas and biofertilizer.

We work with waste advice, information, collection, transport, sorting, recycling, energy recovery, biological treatment, composting, digestion and disposal.

We are also responsible for collection of household waste, sludge and latrines, invoicing, customer service and more.

VafabMiljö Kommunalförbund is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 and quality certified according to ISO 9001.
