GESAMB - Environmental and Waste Management

GESAMB - Environmental and Waste Management was created by the Association of Municipalities of the District of Évora, is an intermunicipal company with mostly public capital with legal personality and endowed with financial and patrimonial autonomy.

The statutory capital of GESAMB is set at 1 million euros, with 60% from the Association of Municipalities of the District of Évora (currently CIMAC - Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alentejo Central) and 40% from the company Lena Ambiente (currently BioSmart - Soluções Ambientais, SA) .

GESAMB is the company responsible for the management and operation of the Intermunicipal System for the Recovery and Treatment of Urban Waste in the District of Évora (SIRU), which includes the municipalities of Alandroal, Arraiolos Borba, Estremoz, Évora, Montemor-o-Novo, Mora , Mourão, Redondo, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Vendas Novas and Vila Viçosa, which produce around 76 thousand tons of urban solid waste per year.

Its area of ​​intervention corresponds to 6.9% of the total area of ​​the country, and it treats and recovers 1.6% of the domestic waste produced in Portugal.

GESAMB is headquartered at the Intermunicipal Sanitary Landfill, on National Road No. 380 (Évora - Alcáçovas), at kilometer 89.9.

Ensure the integrated management of the Intermunicipal System of Urban Waste in the District of Évora, using the safest and most environmentally appropriate techniques, always taking into account the principles of sustainability and application of national and international legislation and recommendations in force for the waste sector.
