Incorporated on October 18, 1996 with a share capital of 241,500 Euros, EMBOPAR - Embalagens de Portugal, SGPS, SA, is a holding company formed by companies and associations of companies producing and importing packaged products, commonly known as 'packers'.

According to Article 2 of Chapter II of the Articles of Incorporation, the purpose of the Company is: 'the management of the shareholding that it will hold in a commercial company that will adopt the type of public limited company and which has as its object the organization and management of recovery and recovery of packaging waste, within the framework of the legislation that successively and at any time will regulate the integrated system, as an indirect form of carrying out economic activities.'

It was in this perspective that, on November 19, 1996, EMBOPAR and its shareholders, aware of their social and environmental responsibilities, actively participated in the constitution of SOCIEDADE PONTO VERDE(SPV) making a strong contribution to the fact that the environmental impact of packaging waste has been decreasing significantly over the years, given the increasing amounts of packaging materials that are sent for recycling or subjected to another type of recovery.

EMBOPAR, with its 62 shareholders, remains the majority, currently holding 54.44% of Sociedade Ponto Verde, proving to be an essential partner in the challenging task that constitutes the sustainable management of the Integrated Packaging Waste Management System (SIGRE) in Portugal .
