De Liede
Spaarnwoudeweg 1175, Vijfhuizen, Noord-Holland, Netherlands | Automotive Recycling
The De Liede business park is named after the adjacent winding river between the Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeer and the Beautiful Nel. In 1974, the Province of North Holland decided to set up a collection area for car scrapyards just below the Rottepolderplein near five houses. These companies, which did not fit into the landscape elsewhere, were offered a location on De Liede.
The first years
Although all demolition companies were located together from 1974 to 1990, there was still no real coordination in the field of environment and safety. That changed in 1990 when the province decided to rigorously remediate the site.
The remediation
The years 1990-1993 were an important turning point: the site was completely cleaned up.
A 25 centimeter thick concrete pavement was laid over an area of 28 hectares . With all these environmental facilities, the site was ready for the future
