Haugaland Interkommunale Miljøverk, HIM, is an intermunicipal company (IKS), and was established in 2007 by the owner municipalities Bokn, Etne, Haugesund, Tysvær and Vindafjord. The company has been established to perform statutory tasks related to waste disposal, recycling, sludge renovation and sludge treatment for these municipalities. HIM works to reduce the total amount of waste, offer good sorting schemes, increase the focus on reuse, create resources from the waste that is collected and take proper care of the residual waste.

We at HIM are responsible for collecting household waste for 62,100 inhabitants and 4,000 cottage subscribers in our five owner municipalities. We also offer waste solutions for the business community at Haugalandet. In addition, we are responsible for collecting sludge for the inhabitants of our owner municipalities that are not connected to public sewers, which amounts to over 6,000 facilities. As of 31 December 2019, the company had 40 employees and a turnover of NOK 110 million. The administration is located at Toraneset environmental park in Vindafjord municipality.

HIM Transport is a subsidiary of HIM IKS, and collects household and commercial waste. HIM Transport has 18 employees.

JTR Gruppen is our subcontractor who performs emptying of sludge plants in our owner municipalities. JTR has 4 employees at Haugalandet.
