MM BOARD & PAPER
STORY
1888
Foundation of the plant in Frohnleiten, Austria
With the establishment of the Frohnleiten plant in Austria as a wood grinding and wrapping cardboard production facility at the end of the 19th century, the foundation stone was laid for later global market leadership. For more than 100 years, MM Board & Paper has proven how innovative a traditional company can be.
1903
Commissioning of Austria's first cylinder board machine in Hirschwang
Like fourdrinier sieves, round sieves are used to form a sheet of cardboard. The individual webs are squeezed together using presses. With this technology it is possible to produce products that consist of very different layers with one machine.
1950
Beginning of the industrial production of recycled cardboard
MM Board & Paper laid the foundation for today's technological leadership in the field of recycled cardboard as early as the middle of the 20th century: The first modern cardboard machine is being set up in the main Frohnleiten mill in Austria to industrially manufacture cardboard from waste paper materials.
1974
Acquisition of the Hirschwang plant, Austria
The Hirschwang plant becomes MM Board & Paper's second Austrian location.
1984
Acquisition of the plants in Neuss and Baiersbronn, Germany
MM Board & Paper takes a first step towards internationalization and diversification by acquiring the German cardboard plants in Neuss and Baiersbronn: Today Neuss produces recycled cardboard and liners (cover paper for corrugated cardboard), Baiersbronn produces cardboard from fresh fibers.
1990
Acquisition of the Eerbeek plant, Netherlands
With the acquisition of the Eerbeek plant in the papermaking center of the Netherlands, MM Board & Paper is expanding its production capacities for virgin fiber board.
