PRB AG

The company PRB AG (Partnership Recyclingplatz Boden) was founded in 2012 and has been operating a recycling area in Cham ZG since January 2014, where various secondary building materials are produced. PRB AG consists of the following ten shareholders:

History

Ten innovative companies have come together under the name PRB Partnership Recycling Boden AG in Cham and put a central building material recycling center into operation for the Canton of Zug. Since the beginning of 2014, a high-performance handling and processing plant for mineral building materials has been in use next to the site of the Walo surfacing plant and Risi gravel plant in Boden Oberwil near Cham.

For the disposal of mineral building rubble, concrete and mixed demolition, asphalt and road construction are accepted. From this, RC concrete granulate, RC mixed granulate, RC asphalt granulate and RC gravel sand are processed and offered as secondary building materials. Deliveries are made from the canton of Zug and neighboring areas. The aim of the PRB is to move around 150,000 m3 of material annually. The focus is on mass balancing so that no landfill or final storage has to take place. With the new large-scale system, the initiators can meet the canton's requirement to dispense with smaller, decentralized systems at one location.

According to the statistics of the building department, the canton of Zug has 7.3 million m3 of gravel reserves set out in the structure plan, but mineral recycling building materials are becoming increasingly important. However, last year sales of mineral RC building materials reached 139,000 m3, the lowest level in five years. Due to a lack of sales opportunities, around 20,000 m3 of RC building materials had to be taken from stock. With its new handling and processing center, the PRB is fulfilling the aim of increasing the share of mineral RC building materials in the total turnover of gravel and gravel substitutes in the gravel concept of the canton of Zug. As a specific goal, the canton is striving to double the current share of mineral RC building materials to 22-25% in 2025.
