M. Schwab AG
Ringstrasse 6 , Arch, Bern, Switzerland | Waste Management
FOUNDATION AND FIRST YEARS
On October 1, 1979, Mr. Martin Schwab founded the sole proprietorship
M. SCHWAB TRANSPORTE ARCH
The first vehicle was a three-axle truck, which was still something special at the time. A year later, the company was able to conclude a contract for snow plowing work with the municipality of Arch. This also required a two-axle all-wheel drive vehicle.
In the spring of 1981 the demand for large trucks increased so much that the M. Schwab company decided to purchase a second three-axle truck. This also meant that a chauffeur had to be employed, he was also the first employee.
ESTABLISHMENT AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMPANY
The year 1982 was the beginning of an important stage of development, which ultimately led to today's company structure and size. An agreement was reached with the Trevisan family that enabled M. Schwab to take over the Wyss gravel pit in Leuzigen. The first gravel was mined in May 1982. This expansion of the business necessitated the purchase of a tire loader, for which an additional employee had to be employed.
1983 the company entered the recycling business and began to process recycling material as secondary building material. For this project we needed a place where it is suitable for the production of concrete and paving recycling. This place was found in the Mettlen-Leuzigen mine, until the spring of 2013 secondary building materials were produced there. In autumn 2013 this branch was outsourced to the company Wüthrich-Kies AG on Solothurnstrasse in Arch. This made an important contribution to environmental protection and the conservation of gravel resources.
THIS NEW BUSINESS EXPANSION CREATED TWO ADDITIONAL JOBS.
1984 was also an important year in the company's development, when two more gravel mining sites were added. On the one hand the Burger Grube Leuzigen and on the other hand the Burger Grube Rüti. An important contract, which entrusted the entire winter service of Grenchen airfield to M. Schwab, was also wrapped up. From now on it was possible to keep the staff busy all year round. The company developed steadily. Truck came to truck and construction machine to construction machine.
1986 The company continued to develop thanks to the drive of the company owner and his wife, so that a new workshop with a gas station was opened in Arch that year. To this end, another truck and the first caterpillar tractor were purchased.
CONVERSION INTO AN AG AND TODAY'S STANDARD
Another milestone was the year 1994, when the cooperation with Kieswerk Arch AG was activated. This led to the management of the gravel plant being transferred to M. Schwab.
On October 1st, 1994 the conversion of the company M. Schwab into the company M. Schwab AG took place. The shares are fully owned by Verena and Martin Schwab.
In 1995 the company built a new administration building and a canteen in the Mettlen gravel pit in Leuzigen. A computer system coupled with a 70 ton truck scale supplemented the investment and enabled precise recording of the delivered material, as well as efficient billing and data recording.
In the last three years the company has been steadily expanded and employed 16 people at the end of 2000.
2000 Son Gregor Schwab joins the company as a trained construction machinery mechanic and as deputy boss.
2004 Construction of the new office building, based in Leuzigen.
2006 Planning for a large landfill of 10 hectares and a capacity of around 1.2 million m3 of excavated material.
In 2007 his son Roman Schwab, a trained truck mechanic, joined. Takeover of the workshop.
2008 Construction of the Dennier landfill & an important contract with the Canton of Bern to manage the landfill (Biel bypass)
2009 Construction of the access road with entry and exit A5 Deponie-Dennier. A large wheel loader had to be purchased to manage the A5 Biel-Bözingen construction site, where the company had to load up to 5000m3 of excavated material onto the trucks per day.
In 2011 daughter Daniela Schwab, trained DA / dental technician, graduated from commercial school in Bern. She is responsible for day-to-day business / disposition, accounting and staff.
In 2012 the Senior Chef (Schwab Martin) handed over the management of Kieswerk Arch AG to his son Gregor Schwab after 18 years.
2014 renovation and expansion of the office building, new location in Leuzgien and a new 50 tons. Vehicle scale.
April 2014 the business was taken over by the second generation, these are the three children: Gregor, Daniela & Roman Schwab. Thus, the family business continues and the shares are fully owned by the family of M. Schwab AG.
In mid-2014, M. Schwab AG had 22 employees.
