Recycling Energie AG

Recycling Energie AG is the largest biogas plant in Switzerland. Since 2011, we have been producing clean green electricity for 5,000 households from around 20% of the leftover food in Switzerland. In addition, we feed up to 600 m 3 of biogas per hour into the natural gas distribution network of the Baden regional works.

We process used deep-frying oil into high-quality biodiesel. We refuel our entire fleet with around 5% of this in-house fuel.

We close the circle

The innumerable synergies are unique about our recycling park in Aargau. We use the waste materials such as washing water or glycerine that arise during the production of biodiesel in the biogas plant. Waste heat that we cannot use ourselves is passed on to the nearby Reusspark, and even the food waste packaging is used as a substitute fuel in a cement works. Because we use the digestive manure that is produced at the end as an effective natural fertilizer in agriculture, up to 1000 tons of artificial fertilizer are saved.

We are logistics professionals

One focus of Recycling Energie AG is perfectly planned logistics. Collecting up to 150 tons of leftover food and 100 barrels of deep-frying oil in the region every day requires skilful calculations and well-rehearsed processes. That is why we have equipped all trucks with an electronic registration system. Automated day trips and interfaces to the customer's billing systems are a matter of course for us.

We stand for cleanliness

After emptying, we carefully wash out every delivered container. The containers are cleaned, rinsed and disinfected with steam in a four-stage tunnel washing system. We only bring our containers back to the customer when they are really clean.

We think sustainably

We have been working 100% CO 2 -neutral since day one and do not use any fossil fuels such as heating oil or diesel. With an energy efficiency of almost 90% and our own consumption of electrical energy of only 6%, we can certainly call ourselves “unique”. In the company's own green electricity filling station, we supply electrically powered vehicles with green energy free of charge.
