Ferro Recycling
Hohlstrasse 532 , Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland | Scrap Iron & Steel
Ferro Recycling was founded in 1987 by leading Swiss companies that manufacture, trade or dispose of sheet steel packaging . The organization is responsible for collecting and recycling sheet steel packaging. In 2012, the IGORA cooperative took over the mandate of Ferro Recycling's office.
The voluntary recycling concept is based on close cooperation between Ferro Recycling and the municipalities, the special purpose associations and the willingness of consumers to collect.
All packaging marked with the sheet steel recycling sign is collected: food cans and other sheet steel packaging, lids for jam, honey, pickle jars, etc., as well as boxes with colored pencils. The recycling rate for sheet steel packaging is around 86 percent. In order to finance its activities, Ferro Recycling levies an advance recycling fee of 1 centimes per packaging (2 centimes for large catering containers of 1.5 to 5 liters) from those who place sheet steel packaging on the Swiss market (dealers, fillers and importers).
