They are environmentally friendly They are made of 100% natural materials They are composted after use They do not contain any oil additives Bioplaneta bio-packaging meets the standards of sustainable development
As early as 1941, Henry Ford reportedly produced a prototype car with bioplastic parts. Cellophane has been produced from cellulose since 1960. Bioplastics can not be seen as a novelty, such as Blu-ray Discs from the world of computers.
But what are bioplastics?
They are materials made from plant polysaccharides. Their production uses agricultural products (eg corn, potatoes, sugar beet, soybeans, tobacco, sugar cane, hemp) and natural raw materials (eg cellulose, lignin), there may be a certain proportion of biodegradable impurities of non-vegetable origin (polycaprolactone). . Production is not energy intensive. In principle, modern bioplastics are produced, for example, by converting starch, which must be exposed to high temperatures and glucose isolated from it. Furthermore, lactic acid is obtained by fermentation and from it then polylactic acid having plastic properties - bioplastic, biopolymer.
Compared to classic synthetic plastics, bioplastics are closer to nature - they do not release hazardous substances for health (both in contact with food and during combustion), they are breathable and biodegradable (even on compost). In addition, bioplastics come from renewable natural resources (basic raw materials can be grown).
Today, there is a special interest in bioplastics. Their extraordinary properties predetermine that they will not be just a period fad - they may even be a necessary alternative to classic plastics, for the production of which, for example, fossil raw materials will be lacking.
Bioplastic components can replace perhaps most of the ones you can commonly see around you now. We can also mention, for example, bioplastic agro gardening foils. Bioplast can also be used for the production of non-hazardous foils for food packaging.
Materials for the production of bioplastics
Bioplastics are made of natural materials containing Ralstonia europhiase bacteria, which under suitable conditions form molecules with comparable properties to synthetic plastics. For the production of bioplastics with 100% biodegradation, agricultural products (eg maize, potatoes, sugar beet, soybeans, tobacco, sugar cane) and natural raw materials (eg cellulose, lignite) can be used. Producing these products from renewable sources is energy-efficient, isn't it? At the same time, it has a positive effect on slowing down the warming of the planet's life.
Products made of bioplastics do not harm animals and can be used in their food chain. This fact is verified by veterinarians.
New job opportunities also arise when using bioplastics and sorting biowaste:
1. operation of industrial composting plants
2. plastics industry
3. agricultural production
What will bioplastics bring for future generations?
Use in all fields of human activity, because they are made from renewable resources.
Agricultural surpluses can also be used for purposes other than food production: as early as 1941, Henry Ford produced a prototype car with bioplastic parts (soybeans were used for production).
The long-used bioplastic is cellophane, which has been produced from cellulose since 1960. Furthermore, the Japanese car company Toyota wants to occupy two thirds of the global bioplastics market by 2020 and its turnover should be 38-40 billion dollars a year. She founded her own biotechnology company for this purpose in 1998. She wants to use sugar cane for the production of bioplastics. The first products are parts for Toyota Prius and Raum passenger cars, which have been assembled since 2003. Goodyear uses biopolymer filler in some car tires.
Did you know that the Winter Olympics in Lake Place, USA, and the Summer Olympics, Sydney, Australia, used compostable plastic products made from PLA corn starch (for fast food stalls)?
Where else are bioplastic packaging used? For packing baby disposable diapers, feminine sanitary napkins, pet toys, etc.
Processing and recycling
All bioplastics can be processed with technologies such as classic petroleum plastics, no equipment needs to be changed.
Today, household waste contains about 40% of biowaste from 100 kg per person per year. After processing in an industrial composting plant, a high-quality biohumus is created, replacing industrial fertilizers, which is returned to agricultural land. This biohumus supports plant growth and prevents soil erosion. At present, 74% of land in southern Europe lacks important organic matter and develops an early stage of soil damage, which can lead to use. In many countries, biowaste treatment is beginning to be recognized for this danger and is being promoted in both garden composters and industrial composting plants. In the Netherlands, 92% of households are involved in the collection of sorted biowaste. This produces 1.5 million tons of quality organic matter per year. In neighboring Austria, about 80% of households are involved in separate collection of bio-waste. There is an industrial composting plant in Spain,
