In our plant, a series of tests on the impact of processing and pulverization on the obtained secondary material was carried out by the Poznań University of Technology - Department of Plastics. During the research, the primary material used in rotomoulding and the secondary material after recycling and pulverization were compared. The result of the research is to determine the technological parameters of pulverization that enable obtaining a product with very high functional properties.
It was found first of all: a significant improvement in the strength parameters of the recyclates in relation to the primary powder, which is attributed to the increase in the molecular weight of the polymer, with unchanged hardness and impact resistance (impact resistance), improvement of the grain shape (less jagged, spherical) thanks to the optimization of the powdering temperature, thanks to partial sharp edges disappear, a very similar flow index of the primary and secondary material MFI (4.64 vs. 4.62), a similar particle size distribution actually depends on the size of the screen used.
The conducted research proved that the pulverization process does not deteriorate the most important parameters of the material and the strength is even increased. The table below shows the results of strength measurements with different pulverizer settings.
